Japanese cuisine’s pride ! Shops where you can eat an Onigiri with your meal !

Second is located at Nagayama 1jo 2chome, not far from the national Route 39 on the Ryutsu Danchi side of the road. The shop is on the first floor, up the steep staircase.


Since our reporter has torn his ankle ligament twice before on those kind of stairs he climbs the stairs as carefully as possible. And recommends you to do the same !

At lunchtime, this popular restaurant welcomes many regulars and office workers on their way out for lunch. There are thousands of comic books in the shop so you can also enjoy a manga while having your after-lunch cup of coffee.

Open from 10:00, there is a "morning set", a "second set" and a "breakfast set” available until 11:00

There are three types of "Morning Set": A, B and C. The C set I ordered this time includes one rice ball, a miso soup, two small side dishes, pickles and a refillable coffee. All that for less than 480 yen. The price is more than reasonable for this generous breakfast set.

Arabigo Coffee is located in Chuwa 4 jo 7 chome. The shop looks relatively new however it actually is a long-established coffee shop that has been in business for a very long time.

The car park and the shop are spacious, and there is a private room on the first floor for groups. It is great place for meetings or big club-like gatherings.

Arabigo Coffee is open from 8.30 am. The morning menu is available from 8:30 am until 11 am.
Our reporter was interested in the "Ohayo set" but ordered the "Onigiri Set" for 650 yen.

The onigiri set includes two rice balls, a miso soup and pickled radishes. It was not mentioned in the menu but two small dishes came with the set.


Even though we said in the introduction that rice balls and miso soup were enough to be happy, it is still nice to have some side dishes. And of course, after the meal, a freshly brewed coffee is served.

Goryounoyu is a super public bath (super sento) located in Nishigoryou 5jo 1chome. Since Taisetsu-no-yu public bath in Nagayama has closed, our reporter comes here twice a month even if its a bit faraway from where he lives.

Our reporter usually goes to Goryounoyu on his days off. He first takes a morning bath then eats lunch at the restaurant and finishes with a nap.

The menu at the restaurant is quite large. You may notice that the dishes are numbered on the menu. You have to remember your number and order on the ticket machine.

It's very difficult to find the button for the dish you want to order at the ticket machine if you forget your number, so make sure you remember the number.

The Onigiri set is reasonably priced at 450 yen. The set includes a bonito onigiri and a salmon onigiri, miso soup, pickles seasoned with vinegared miso paste and a fried egg.

If you add the 600 yen bathing fee, it's only a little over 1,000 yen to enjoy a bath, a meal and a nap, isn't that great ?
