Ramen Senmon Tsuruya, the ramen specialist!
Located at 19-chome, 4 Jodori, many tourists visit Tsuruya which specializes in ramen. This shop is also well-liked by the locals.
In 1998, it received the "Asahikawa Ramen Award" from an community magazine published in Asahikawa. Ramen enthusiasts really like shops like this one, where locals frequently come.
Recent ramen shops have a wide variety of menus and toppings, but the menu of "Ramen Senmon Tsuruya" is very simple.
There is only a combination of vegetables and slices of roasted pork fillet in the soup coming with three flavours: soy sauce, salt, and miso. With this simple recipe, the fact that Asahikawa citizens did not get bored with this ramen for so long is already showing how good this place is.
Miso vegetable ramen is very popular, but our writer wants everyone to try out the basic "soy sauce ramen."
The colour of the soy sauce is dark but unlike its appearance it has a mild taste.
The thick and stomach-filling roasted pork fillet is also popular for its delicious flavour.

Ramenya Tenkin
"Ramenya Tenkin" is a 7-minute walk from JR Asahikawa Station and is visited by many tourists. The shop has been interviewed by many media, many autographs of celebrities and entertainers who visited the stop are hanging on the wall.
There is a parking lot in front of the shop where about 6 cars can be parked, but be careful as it is often full, especially at noon.
Since "Tenkin" was founded in 1952, it continues to keep the tradition of Asahikawa ramen, the soy sauce ramen stands out in the menu poster.
There are still many fans of the miso ramen and the salt ramen though.
The main characteristic of Ramenya Tenkin's ramen is its lard: it covers the surface of the soup. The lard acts as a lid and the soup is hot until you finish eating the noodles.
The soup had a strong soy sauce flavour without being too salty. In overall, it had an refreshing taste that goes well with low water content dipping noodles.

The main store, the head of Ramen Santoka, is located at 1 Jodori 8-chome, about a 1-minute walk from JR Asahikawa.
Asahikawa ramen standard image is soy sauce ramen, but the signature dish of "Ramen Santouka" is its salt ramen.
However this salt ramen is also a bit different from the traditional Asahikawa ramen: the soup is a cloudy tonkotsu soup. This shop is the pioneer of a new style of Asahikawa ramen.
A 7-Eleven convenience store original cup noodle was based of the salt ramen from « Ramen Santouka ».
